Supply of Photographic Material

All our work is shot on high quality medium-format film, unless otherwise instructed by the client. This is then scanned at high resolution, so the quality of our material - whether in the form of prints or digital images is consistently high. We can also digitally retouch images if required.

We can supply aerial photographs in a wide variety of sizes and formats, but a typical ‘standard’ package may involve the supply of images in any combination of the following forms:

Hi-Res Reference Prints
Prints at 250 x 340mm (10 x 13.5in) our standard reference print size, or any other size agreed with the client.

Digital Files
In RGB JPEG format in the following sizes as per samples provided on CD:

Small
400 x 300 pixels or 600x400 at 72 dpi (max VDU screen resolution) for quick reference and E-mail use. These images are around 60K when compressed, expanding to around 350K when opened.

Low-Res
1200 x 900 pixels at 72 dpi (full screen size on a 19-inch monitor) for more detailed reference purposes, E-mail use, PowerPoint presentations etc. These images are around 600 – 700K when compressed, expanding to around 3.5MB when opened and show considerable detail at full screen size even in programmes such as Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Photo Editor etc.

Med-Res
2700 x 2000 pixels at 200 dpi for repro use at sizes up to 340 x 250mm in newspapers and 250 x 190mm in magazines, brochures etc. These images are around 2.5MB when compressed, expanding to around 16MB when opened. They can be enlarged up to 3-fold on screen without loss of detail, while still loading fairly quickly on a moderately fast computer, in programmes such as Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Photo Editor etc.

Hi-Res
4000 x 3000 pixels at 300 dpi, at 250 x 340mm for high quality reproduction and detailed reference/analytical purposes. These images are ideal for large format display and exhibition printing and high quality litho printing at full-page A4 brochure size and above. They are detailed enough to extract selective areas for display or litho printing purposes and they can also be enlarged around 5-fold on screen for studying quite small sections of the image in considerable detail. They are therefore very useful for a number of detailed survey, planning and analysis purposes.

As these Hi-Res images can be up to 7MB in size when compressed and may expand to well over 35MB when opened however, their memory requirement means that they may only be opened and viewed in dedicated photo-manipulation programmes such as Photoshop, Corelpaint, Paintshop Pro etc. on a fairly fast computer.

Additional Photo Finishes and Options
Prints can also be supplied in a range of larger sizes and we offer a wide variety of print finishing and framing services for display and exhibition use, or as postcard runs. We can also supply transparencies, if this is agreed beforehand.

Digital images can also be supplied in the form of CMYK JPEG, TIFF or EPS files at various sizes and resolutions.
